compiling the kernel
HI everybody,
Im sorry if it was mentioned before but still im gonna ask it.I want to make my own kernel and compile it.Could someone tell me where to begin?

Google "compile kernel newbie yourdistro", where your distro is the distro you are using. Many distributions have their own tools to help build and install the kernel.

The easiest way to start is to download a vanilla kernel from kernel.org and read the files in the Documentation directory. That's how I got my start compiling custom kernels for Red Hat 8 and I still use that method today.
Do not worry if it does not work correctly the first time you do it. Just make sure you backup your "/boot/grub/menu.lst" file (assuming you are using GRUB) before you run "make install".
