Compiling NVIDIA Drivers

Hi!

Iam using Pavilion 8505 (nVidia RIVA TNT 8mb) machine with Red Hat 9. I installed the nvidia driver (version1.0-4496) without any problem. But when I restarted X my machine became unstable. I tried all the NvAgp options but nothing works. I decided to extract the driver and recompile it but it gives me strange error messages.

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

bye.:(

What do you mean by unstable ? please describe, give error logs.

Before recompiling the driver, had you changed your /etc/X11/XF86Config86-4 file ? Have you used successfully a previous nVidia driver (like 4363) ? Those are the lines in the readme.txt :
look in the "Module" section and add the line,
Load "glx"
If the following lines exist, remove them;
Load "dri"
Load "GLcore"
