compiling error

i am trying to use a fortran compiler but its not working i am using suse linux with KDE 3.2 and the kernel is 2.6.(not sure what after that).

i think the problem lies in the fact that it is a 64bit system but the compiler is 32bit

i use emacs to edit and write command for the compiler (dont know how to find out if its 64bit or 32).

the error that keeps appearing is

/usr/local/lib/NAGWare/ could not read symbols: Invalid operation
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

i would like to know how to fix the problem but if you dont know how could you please tell me what the error means.

Which Fortran compiler and version are you using?
