Compiling C/C++ CGI Scripts in Linux

Alright, I've found dozens upon dozens of tutorials on CGI but NONE of them explain how to actually create the scripts. Do I need to compile my files as .cgi files, .exe files, or what? Any help for this total newb would appreciated.

You can use shell scripts, perl scripts, python, compiled files... something that is executable by the operating system and generates an output that is recognised by Apache. There's a good tutorial at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/howto/cgi.html which will get you running with cgi pretty quickly.
