Question Compiling a new Kernel with GRUB

I'm about to re-compile a new kernel. I've read lots of information on this, mostly stating problems with re-booting if you don't configure lilo. I'm using GRUB however, is there anything I would need to do with GRUB to make sure I can re-boot?

Just make sure you make apropriate changes to /boot/grub/menu.lst (ie add an entry for the new kernel). Even if you don't do anything you'll still be able to boot your old kernel, if you didnt remove it.

I don't have he source to my old kernel. I take it that by removing my old kernel, you mean remove the image in /boot?

yes he refers to the image, but don't physically remove it, either rename it, or just simply leave it and have that option still available to you in your grub menu just in case of failure...when everthing is stable with the new one, then consider getting rid of it if you wish...
