Compile GCC 3.3 on Minimal Install Enterprise

1) Does the minimal install have a C compiler loaded by default?

2)I get the when executing the ./configure

[root@MDSMTP10 gcc-3.3]# ./configure
Configuring for a i686-pc-linux-gnu host.
Created "Makefile" in /export/home/y648683/downloads/gcc-3.3 using "mt-frag"
./configure: line 8: cc: command not found
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

I am about lost on this....this is only the second time I have installed from source.....HELP.

I don't know what distro you're running, but you don't need to reinstall it if you're lacking/missing a package or application. Usually, gcc is installed when you select the development section of the installation. To make sure you have gcc, type gcc -v in terminal. If it's not installed, install it (don't reinstall the os).

Running Enterprise 3.0....

This is a minimal install. So I don't even think I have X-windows

I'd like to ensure that I install the 3.3 or 3.4 gcc client.

thnx

Ian
