compile and build linux from kernel in win xp
 
hello friends

i have a task to build a linux operating system from the source...
i have win xp currently running on it..
i need to build the os along with boot loader...
is it possible....?
if so please guide me...

Sure it's possible. If hints are enough for you to get you started, then if you can't install Linux you could use VMware, QEmu or whatever else. Both communities offer free downloadable OS images as well. Then look at "Linux From Scratch". Time to do some research I guess.

The easiest way is to use a virtual machine, but compile times are not going to be that great there. However in modern hardware it's not impossible.

If you want to build Linux from source, I recommend you to read on LFS (Linux From Scratch). Once you can boot Linux, using a VM or installing it (which I recommend if you really want to learn something) it's just a matter of following the LFS instructions to build your own personal system from scratch.

Anyone who had done some research would know that it is possible to build a system from source. I am less clear about whether it is possible for you to build it, but it really isn't my problem.
