compatibility list for building a linux pc

what are the best/most compatible sound and video cards that you can run linux with?how about for the 56k modem?iam going to try to build a linux pc in a couple months,and needed some help with these things.thanks

I like an external serial port modem, myself.

Hi KevinCadogan

As Fancypiper said

Modem - External Serial

Graphics card - I use MSI Geforce4 mx440se - no problems at all with Red Hat 9, Mandrake 9.1

Be careful with your Motherboard Chipset!

You'll be alright with Hard drives, CD-ROM drives, Floppy drives etc

I got an internal PCI Lucent modem and it works better with RedHat 9 then on Windows 98 SE.

I think ATI would be your best bet for a Video card. Thats what I got.

Will the Nvidia chipset motherboard work? I plan on gettin a new pc soon.
