Question comp. locks up on every distro ive tried

tried rh9 mandrake9.1 sot desktop and debian. All of them tried to install the driver for ohic 1394 port imediatly after starting the install, all of them heng and the computer just freezes, its searching for irq 11 but starts lookin and gets irq 10 if you want a copy of the lines of code on the screen let me know and ill post them if it will help someone to figure out what the hell i need to do to install linux. and to the answer the question i dont use the 1394 port and really dont have a need for it so you can understand why im a little ticked by this. Any suggestion that helps will be greatly appreciated.

Did you disable the plug n play in the BIOS. May want to hit F1 in Mandrake 9.1 and put in nousb and see if that works. Do make sure that your BIOS is setup right though.

Hope that helps.

nice nick archtroll

Disable the 1394 port in your CMOS setup. (BIOS setup - whatever) it might help, it might not.
