Commands to install a NAS on Debian

Hi,

I am totally new to Linux and hope you could help me.

Goal: Connect a NAS device on the internal network of a Linux firewall.

The NAS is PowerVault NX300.

Thanks.

You are probably going to need to provide more details than what you have.

Are you on the same network?
How are you trying to connect?
What is the end goal?
Any other information that may be relevant to your situation would be appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the response.

Yes, both the NAS and Linux firewall belong on the same network and connection is on ethernet link. End goal is for me to understand what configuration is needed in the Linux firewall to setup the NAS device and have the two communicate.

Here is the setup:

internet -- Linux firewall -- Dell 10/100 Switch -- NAS

Linux is running on Debian GNU/Linux 4.0
NAS is running on QNAP 3.3.6 Build 1110T

Let me know if I missed anything. Sorry for any incomplete information.

Thanks again.

There are probably a few ways to do what you are asking:

NFS
iSCSI
cifs

Depends on what your needs are. Also why would you be attaching this to the firewall? That is something that I find strange.
