command to locate error on line #

Greetings:

When theres error on the linux it will specify what specific line #. I know in GUI in linux i just press F11 to display the numbers in the left side.

My question is:

If I used bash or putty, what is the command to type so that it will help me point to specific line error.

I already knew this command before but I forgot :D ..can anyone help me....

You need to specify what program you are running that is giving you the errors. The format and handling of errors will be very different with different applications.
terminal--shell commands?
compiling?
specific application such as GIMP or OpenOffice?

Lets say I command vi radiusd.conf and run radiusd -X. When errors occur it prompts me theres error , lets says error on line 50. I dont know what is the command to automatically point me in that specific error line. :Pengy:
