Command Lines?

G'day, I often get answers and see nixie pixel using command lines, in a terminal. But where did the in the know people get this knowledge, how can I get these command lines?

I do not really understand that question, but I think the answer is: practicing and reading documentation (man pages). Twenty years ago there was no GUI, so people had to use command lines

Thanks, where are there pages of command lines for the most popular distros, such as Fedora, and Ubuntu...?

business_kid 09-15-2012 10:53 AM

on your pc, if you installed man pages. There are also info pages, and some programs only supply info pages. Try these in a terminal

info tar
man grep

Get the idea?
