command line printing

This certainly is quite curious 4 a newbie.But does anyone have an idea of specific commands i can use to handle command line printing.I am exploring linux and i must say that it is fun and powerful. if u dont explore u will never discover.My distro is redhat linux.

Try the lpr command.
For example: To print a file called test.txt use this command.....
lpr test.txt

You are obviously keen to learn else you wouldn't have asked a question like this. I would recommend a new book "Linux Pocket Guide" by O'Reilly ISBN 0-596-00628-4. I have found it really useful and it is quite cheap by guide standards

I've always used the lp command but it looks identical to the lpr command.

Might want to check out lpstat also...
