command lind printer add

Hi All,
I am studying a Linux subject at the moment and one of my Q's that I'm having trouble with is as follows. it seem simple enough except the #$%^ lecturers aren't all that helpful.... anyway

"Write the sequence of commands to add a generic printer and share it on the local network"

any help would be great... :-)

All my doco tells me how to use red hat GUI and/or samba nothing about command line (or even where to look in man) so am having trouble...

thanks in advanced
