color terminal question

hello, i'm using ssh to remote into a freebsd machine and i don't have the colors for directories and that when i use ls.

if i go into my home dir and edit .shrc and add--

alias ls="ls -G"

would that do the trick for all logins local and remote for that user?

You will need to change the bash startup files on the remote machine as that is where you will be logged in.
