Unhappy collect 2: cannot find 'ld'

Hi ... everybody ...

I am trying to install a new programm but the only thing I get is "collect 2: cannot find 'ld'".
If I give him ld on the shell it doesn`t work too ... :-(

Can anybody tell me which package I have to install to have ld ?

I am using Mandrake 8.2 and some time ago I had ld ... but it has gone ... to ... I don`t know ...

Then I tried to search with
find -name ld
Nothing ... ld seems not to be installed ...
ldd exists ... ld-config ... too ...

Can anybody help me ...

Thanks ...
