Codec problem (xine, kafffine, etc)
Hi,
I would like to play the mpg files from my canon s50. Xine tells me that I need a special codec - where can I find this, and how do I install them? Thanks |
Use the file command or tcprobe to indicate what kind of movie it is. It may be an .avi file using a DivX codec.
Here is a link to the "divx4linux" home page: http://www.divx-digest.com/software/...dec_linux.html Also, check if you have a win32codec package that you can install. If not, google for the terms "divx daily build" The infomation I found on the web indicates that the camera produces either AVI or WAVE movies. I'm not familiar what kind of video a WAVE file is. |
Codec
I think there is windows dll codec on Xine website. Its bundled in a compressed file. Check it out , its been months since i last went there. Not sure about now. Anyway , all the best.

I tried to install the following:
43631 2005-11-22 16:14 libdvdcss-1.2.8-2.network.i386.rpm not testet 7498892 2005-11-22 16:16 RealPlayer9-9.0.7.151-4.i386.rpm failed dependency libXm.so.2 is needed by RealPlayer9-9.0.7.151-4 8308394 2005-11-22 16:16 w32codec-1.52-1.i386.rpm install ok, but xine still says no codec found |
I cannot play dvds either:
xine: cannot find input plugin for MRL [dvd:/] xine: input plugin cannot open MRL [dvd:/] xine: found input plugin : DVD Navigator |
Which distro do you have? Is it 64 bit?

Hi,
I found the solution to be added the packman resource and then running a system update :-) thanks. |
