Unhappy CM8738 6Channels with mandrake 9.1

Dear reader,

I want surround sound on my linux computer and i can't get it. I have a CM8738 6 channel sound card and i can only get 4 channels from it. I have tried using modprobe cmpci speakers=6 i still only get 4 channels. Can you please help me i really want my full sound back

probeall scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi
alias eth0 8139too
alias sound-slot-0 cmpci
probeall usb-interface usb-uhci
alias eth1 8139too
above snd-cmipci snd-pcm-oss

have you looked at alsa?

take a look here, may be helpful.
