Clients sending mail slowly

Suse server used as web server and mail server.

The client machines were sending mail very slowly until somebody mentioned to me the /etc/hosts file, by putting the client IP address in the file, all seems OK.

This was OK until suddenly ALL the computers on the network need to send mail, and not wanting to add in every IP address seperately....

I know there must be way to add in the whole network.. but where do I start?

Ta in advance

what is the mail server? Adding mail clients in /etc/hosts is really not required.there must be some other issues. If you are running postfix then you can add the whole network so that users can send mails.Same thing must be possible in sendmail too.
