Clear History

I'm running Mandrake 8.1. My Recent Documents, Clear History does not work. It's only a minor annoyance but I'd like to figure out how to resolve it.

Also, in Windows I use to run Defrag, is there something comparable in Linux or is it even necessary? I'm not sure how to keep my hard drive clean and running smoothly. I'm not having any problems, just want to do some preventative maintenance if I need to.

Don't even bother about defrag, as you said your drive has no problems. No defragmentation tools are needed in linux/UNIX world, speaking technically there is fragmentation that occures on linux systems, but it is negligible and no tools are provided (or even could deal with it) anyway, so don't worry about it, as for clear docs history, I am not sure, haven't looked at it yet.
