Manually download the main.cvd and daily.cvd from http://www.clamav.net/ and drop them into the folder containing the problem files in question. It's works for me 99% of the time when I experience similar errors.
Do you mean that I need to copy the main.cvd and daily.cvd into /tmp ?
In the /tmp, i find there is a folder called clamav-50308721953777d5, inside the folder there are three files there, main.db,main.hdb and COPYING.
Refer to the clamav.conf , the path for the database is /usr/local/clam/share/clamav.
May I know which is the correct path I need to copy the files to?
Your folder is different than mine, but then I have the KlamAV GUI installed on top of ClamAV. I would start with the folder specified in your clamav.conf
