Question CJK support

I'm ruuning mandriva 2005 and kde.

In gimp, gedit, gaim and some other aplicatins I can use the various input methods includind CKJ that ship with madriva. I am especially interested in scim. It works fine with the above mentioned aplications.

However when it comes to opera, mozilla, kmail, OpenOffice and a few others the input method icon does not show on the toolbar so that i am not able to change to scim or any other input method. And even if I cheat and change the input method while using say gedit and then choose the kmail window - kmail still does not reiceve any Chinese input but gedit does.

There is no problem reading Chinese (either simplified or traditional) in those applications that do not allow writing Chinese. An expation is skype. In skype i can neither input Chinese nor read simplified forms; traditional forms however show perfectly - is it for political reasons or what :-)

Summing up: how do I make the scim (or/and other input methods) work in all apllications? 1/4 of the earth's population is interested in the answer
