Chroot question...

Still trying to remaster DSL, got everything else down pat.
Having issues as to what to do once I'm in the "chroot" environment?
Code:
chroot source/KNOPPIX
mount -t proc /proc proc
Now, after doing that none of the tutorials I've seen explain the steps to getting online and starting "X".
Does the WM restart and then I'm in the environment where my build is or how does it work??
