choppy video in games (redhat 9)

Whenever I load up the games that come preinstalled with redat 9, The video is in a super low resolution and the game seems to move VERY slowly and choppy. I am running a gforce3 ti200. I am also using a viewsonic a90f. My pc is a p41.8g w/ 1gig of pc2100 DDR. Any insight on this problem would be appreciated.
