choosing default application

I am really new so sorry if this seems too stupid: I installed Firefox 1.5 as an administrator, cannot figure out how to make it default browser for other log-ons to the box. I am sure this must be a simple fix, but I sure don't know it. thanks.

I am not sure that there is a system wide way to set a default browser. It is sort of a user/desktop environment specific preference. Why can't the users decide what browser they want to use?

Ok, how do I do that? I do not see it listed in any list of programs. It asked if I wanted it as default browser, I said yes. So now Firefox is what I get on that login. the same icon gets Netscape in other logins.

Can't really tell you unless you say which desktop environment you are using...
You could perhaps start Firefox manually, either from a console or from a "run command" in your menu if you have one. Then, in preferences there is a button that says "Firefox should check to see if it is the default browser whan starting".
