choose runlevel like boot option
In my linux init is the parent process of every process. Can i give an option to choose runlevel after booting(hence not at the GRUB prompt) ???

please don't scold me..becoz this is not my project, homework, etc ...

I am not familiar with Backtrack linux, but on many distros, you an set the runlevel at boot time from /etc/inittab. It is different on Debian based systems, but Backtrack may use the inittab file.

The run level can be changed after boot by issuing either the "init" ot "telinit" command as root. Check the man pages for these commands on your system. On my system I would type for instance

sudo telinit 3

to change to runlevel 3
