I've just finished setting up a linux server I'm going to run but I keep running into a problem whenever I try to install a file manager.
When I need to chmod a file, although it has been chmodded to 777 as the instructions say, it still returns an error message along the lines of 'file.ext is not writeable'.
I've tried rebooting apache after chmodding although nothing changed.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance, Dan.
I've done everything you've recommended but it still doesn't work. The files are definately getting chmodded to 777 - it's just no PHP scripts can write to them :-(. Any ideas?
Hi Harriskaver, have you checked to make sure that the filesystem you are trying to write to is not mounted read only. Thats the only thing I could think of off hand.
I looked through php.ini and couldn't find anything that would affect this so I logged in as root, chmodded a file to 777 (file owner: root) and then tried logging in on my username. I navigated to the file and although it said it was 777 I could not edit/modify the file :S. Any ideas?
[Btw, sorry for not having posted in this topic for ages.]
