chmod: invalid mode

Hi all,

Any ideas please for what I am doing wrong here...

Thanks

Code:
$ pwd
/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/sites/default/files
$ sudo chmod /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/sites/default/files 755 -R
[sudo] password for jimbo:
chmod: invalid mode: `/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/sites/default/files'
Try `chmod --help' for more information.

you've got the parameters the wrong way round. it clearly thinks that the file name is the mode. The manpage describes the exact use clearly enough:

sudo chmod -R 755 /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/sites/default/files
