I had downloaded some *.pdf files from torrent but in the patch I have some files with extension *.chm.
What are does?
How do I read them?

Microsoft Help, Compiled HTML.

And the tool provided under the link that yin-yeti posted
allows you to view them in Linux ;}

If you use KDE, install kchmviewer. If you use GNOME or XFCE, gnochm or xchm are good choices.
