checking hardware

when linux is booting, it tells me to press "I" to perform an interactive boot. If i don't press "I" the booting keeps normal until it gets to a point taht says "checking hardware". I'va left my computer in that point for 4 straight hours and nothing happens. The only way i can use to get to linux is by pressing "I" and clickin yes to all questions except for the one that asks me to load harddrake. Why does that happen? How can i boot without the interactive proccess?

The problem seem to be with the autodetection of your hardware... so the only choice I can think is to disable the hardware detection ... You probably are use Mandrake Linux... so you can do this in the mandrake control center... in services.... you can disable harddrake...... it probably will work....
