check if hardware is working internet card


can i check if my internet hardware is working properly; from a terminal command?

i'll take a wild guess and assume you mean wifi card ?
maybe this set of commands will help us determine what your issue is:

first your wild guess is correct; wifi card

dont see my network or my neighbors network or any networks!

HP Compaq 6910p
is my blue light ON on the static bar, thats a Big FAt NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
dont know what the little cave on the left side of my laptop is called but i stuck a Lucent Tech wave lan into see if I could get connect wirelessly! not happening!

using Debian on laptop!

um ?, can you please provide the diagnostic info in the linked thread above. doing so will inform responders to this thread about the specific manufacturer and model of your hardware.
