hey guys, they are disabled.. but I would like to remove them.. and webmin lets me

before i do, can somone tell me what each does and if i need them.. or what i need them for

i know chargen is a character genreator, and echo is.. well... echo :)

are they required by anything

Why remove them? I'm not to familiar with what exactly these do but would it be safe to assume that if you have them disabled and nothing has gone haywire then there wouldn't be much of a difference if you removed them? I wouldn't remove them though.

Theres my 2 cents since this thread has been gathering dust here.

if its not needed, that why should it be there wasting a .00001 milisec of my bootup time :)

You won't need them anyway, they are accient and inefficent proved to be exploitable, no need - remove, they are kept for history reasons mostly - my guess.

chargen is a big dos service hehe
