characters scrambled when come out from suspention

Hello,
I have an HP zv6000 laptop dual boot, windows XP and Fedora 12, closing
down the lid while it is operating on Battery, when I open again and
press the power switch to get the display back in place of characters
are displayed all unreadable blocs. the "on battery power setting" are
When laptop lid is closed: "suspend"
When battery power is critically low: "Shutdown"
Is there some setting that need to be done?
