changing the font size at cmd prompt possible ?
hi guys
i recently started using linux , so please forgive my lack of use of the correct termonology! i have changed my monitor from crt to lcd and find the fonts to be a little out of focus, so far i have achieved native resolution of 1280x1024 in gnome which is great! i have configured grub by adding the vga=xxx appropraite for native resolution of my monitor which is great !.........but herein lay the problem, everything is so small and stuck up in the left corner , so small that i cant read it very well. which leads me to the question how do i increase the font sizes at cmd prompt without changing the resolution ? dare i say .:o.......in windows i would increase the DPI , how do i achieve this in centos ? thanx in advance yunus |
depending on termial you use,
i increased font size in options of my xfce4-terminal. |
this would be the cmd prompt before X , not a terminal window in X
xfce4-termina ?? sorry guys i am a complete noob y |
no possible solutions ? anybody ??? please !!!

Set a lower resolution for your framebuffer, it will not affect your X resolution.
|
using the lower resolution makes things bigger yes but also less clear which is why i use the native resolution in the first place.
x resolution does not bother me at all, because the software we use does not need x it is acucobol based and runs from cmd : i would like the clarity of the high resolution but a bigger font size at cmd : ta y |
xfce4-terminal is a GUI terminal emulator for the Xfce desktop environment.

Try another font then, you can change them using the setfont tool, the available fonts usually live at /usr/share/consolefonts/ (it could differ in your distro).
Your distro might offer a way to configure this properly via your init system, and also some packages with console fonts. If not, just google for them. |
