Changing Sound-Card Drivers in Fedora 5

I just installed Fedora (Core 5) on a desktop.
Mainly for learning purposes, and hp Linux 101 class.

The sound is dead.

Discovered Linux saw my Creative SB-16 SoundCard (CT-4740), as an Ensoniq 5880 (Module: snd-ens1371) by mistake. This is probably why the sound doesn't work.

How do you modify and change the sound-card drivers in Fedora (Core-5) Linux?

Even pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Maybe I can go from there.

Thanks!!
Charlie

Make sure the card is not muted. :)

Sound-Card Driver Problem

My dead sound-card problem in Fedora Core 5 is fixed.
Linux was not recognizing the Creative Sound Blaster card correctly. I took the easy way out. I kept putting in different sound-cards until I found one that Fedora & Linux liked, which turned out to be a CRYSTAL sound-card. My sound now works great! Music is very good also!

(I hate to fix things this way, but I'm just not proficient enough yet in LINUX, to update and change drivers for sound cards.) --- Charlie
