If you are lucky (have a nice xorg.conf), maybe just doing <Ctrl><Alt>+ or <Ctrl><Alt>- could help. those shortcuts change (cycle) between the resolutions in your Section "Screen" in the xorg.conf.
if not try adding more resolutions to the xorg.conf (is in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, or something like that) in the Section "Screen", you would like to add some more resolutions (modes), mine looks like this:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "screen1"
Device "device1"
Monitor "monitor1"
DefaultDepth 24
Option "nologo"
Option "DPMS"
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1152x864" "1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "640x480" "480x360" "320x240"
EndSubSection
EndSection
