Changing picture during boot

I've tried and tried to figure this out on my own, but here is what I'm trying to do.

I am running Mandriva 2009.1 and I want to change the grub menu. It has the blue mandriva background and I want to change that, but I can't figure out where it is getting that image from.

Also I want to change the background during boot when it tells you what it is doing. For example, opensuse has a nice background image while the lines are flying by, and I want to do something similar, but I cannot find where to do it.

I have tried using the utility in the control center that allows you to create splash screens, but for some reason, it always goes back to the old one as soon as I exit the utility, so I am trying to find where it is getting its information from.

Question graphical boot

hlo,

I'm a PCLinuxOS user (in the past a deriative of Mandriva) with PCC (Pclinuxos Control Center). I thought that there was a Mandriva Control Center (type mcc or drakconf in the konsole to access it) and go then to Boot and Graphical Theme on Boot...
=> or is this entry disappeared...?

No it is there, but it doesnt work. If I change it there, it simply reverts back to what it was before.
