Changing GUI in Mandrake 10.0
Hi,
I am a one-week Linux user. I'm enjoying it immensely so far - why did I wait so long to try it?! One thing I can't figure out. How can I boot my computer into a different GUI? I am running Mandrake 10 with KDE on an IBM T22 laptop, dual boot with Windows XP. I told it to install GNome at install time but I can't see any option to get this to work. I'm also keen to try some other GUIs - like Blackbox. Any advice appreciated Cheers |
Go in KDE Control Center, you have boot manager or connexion manager, you can change it from there :)
I don't have the name exactly cauz i'm not in Linux now :/ |
Hey thanks heaps for that.
For anyone else asking, it's under Boot/Autologin in the Mandrake Control Centre |
Hmm, are you logging in at a text prompt (inittab 3)? If so couldn't you just login and then "switchdesk (GNOME) or (KDE)" then startx to boot x? Did you try that or are you just moving through GUI?
Oh I just saw you got it. Oh well it's a different way of going about it anyhow. |
