Changing gcc version
I am running Debian, and I am trying to compile an alsa module. I get an error msg:
Using /lib/modules/2.4.25-xbox/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o
/lib/modules/2.4.25-xbox/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: The module you are trying to load (/lib/modules/2.4.25-xbox/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o) is compiled with a gcc
version 2 compiler, while the kernel you are running is compiled with
a gcc version 3 compiler. This is known to not work.
So, #gcc -v says:
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/2.95.4/specs
gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)
So I get gcc 3.2.2 from synaptic, its installed. Now gcc -v still gives same version. How do I USE the new version?
Thanks,
phil
