Changing from linpus to mint 11--can I keep my contacts info?
I have ordered a USB flash drive with Mint 11 to replace my Linpus Linux Lite v.1.0.3.E. Is there any way I can transfer my Linpus-based contact info to the new system?

Is this "contact info" managed by a certain application? If so, which one?
I don't know because I have never used Linpus and from what I've read it's very different from most Linux systems. |
It's called "Contacts 1.02.3007" and it is copyrighted by Acer, the computer's manufacturer.
I was able to save it in a folder. Every contact is a file. |
You're almost halfway there. Now just save that folder (along with anything else you might want) to a USB storage device so that you can restore it once you've got Mint installed.
A bit off-topic here, but is there a LUG (Linux Users Group) near you? If there is, you should be able to get all the assistance you need to get Mint installed on your your Aspire One and all your old data restored. Much easier than trying to do it via the forum if you've got lots of questions. Best move I made when I first started out with Linux was joining a local LUG. |
I had already put those note files onto my backup USB flash drive.
Thanks for the idea of joining a LUG. I'll check on it. |
