Changing Font in Emacs

Hi Everyone,

Fonts are not my forte....!

I am trying to change the font in emacs (on Fedora 11) to something more visually pleasing. I have read the other forums and found out how to change the font

i.e. (set-default-font "owner-name-etc-etc....)"

however the one I am looking to have as default is not available in the list of fonts. I am trying to use adobe-courier (as it's what I'm used to). When I type:

locate courier

I get a whole load of entries in /usr/share/texmf/fonts/tmf/adobe/courier

which I assume are for latex/tetex etc.

When I type "xlsfonts" it shows that there are only 8 adobe fonts all based on "utopia".

How do I get the adobe-courier font? I have tried yum searching for "adobe" and "courier" but I can't find anything.

Sorry if this is obvious!

Thanks in advance

James

Hmmm ... what do you get from
Code:
xlsfonts | grep -i 'adobe-courier' | wc -l
2080
As you see I have *heaps* of variations of it (in Slackware).

Cheers,
Tink

Hi Tink

When I type "xlsfonts | grep -i 'adobe-courier' | wc -l"

I get "0".

However, When I type xlsfonts | grep -i 'adobe' | wc -l

I get "19"
