Changing default gui from gdm to kdm

Hi, just installed debian and i randomly picked gdm when I had to choose between gdm, kdm and xdm during the installation (I'm pretty new to linux ).
I noticed that gnome wont let me log as a root , but kdm would, so I was wondering how I can change the default graphic interface from gdm to kdm, or if there is a way to log as a system admin from gdm.

in your gdm.conf (possibly in /etc/X11/gdm), under the [security] section see if "AllowRoot" is set to true.
