Changing default gnome & kde color chemes?

I am sorry if this has been discussed already many times but my head is practically empty, dunno where to go with my problem.
Here is the issue:
I installed fluxbox...I really love it and like its minimalistic style and configurability. But if I use gnome or kde applications..they have that default white background and black text scheme. Even if I change my gnome theme to darker...apps show upp still with withe default gnome color cheme for example. I love dark color chemes and those white prconfigured color chemes cut to my eyes very hard.
My question is: where are those settings located? I would like to change them to something more neutral after my likings.
Thank you

I really don't know what's happening with the gnome settings. The only thing I can think of is making sure you're logged in as root. As far as for KDE, click on the launch thing on your panel, settings>control center, and there should be a shitload (approximately) of options in the Appearances & Themes>Colors area.
