Changing default current directory to / when ftp

When I ftp and check the current directory it is always the users home directory. I would like to change this to the / directory. Sounds like it should be simple, tried changing settings in ftpaccess but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well crossreference the word 'chroot' with your ftp server on google. Infact if you do a search for the word 'chroot' in your ftp daemon's conf file you should even find what you're lookign for.
