changing back to windows
 
hey my parents have told me that they want the hard drive that im currently using for linux to be used by windows again which is ok cause ill be getting my own computer soon so i was just wondering how i change a drive that has linux on it back to a just windows drive? ok thanks

I think you can find an appropriate windows system restore disc, change the boot sequence to make it boot from the CDROM, and then reboot computer with the systems restore disc in it, and it'll format your hard drive and load windows.

make sure you back up all you're important files that you have saved on the linux drive first.

but i have two harddrive one is running windows the other is running linux so i just have to change the one hardrive back to a windows drive i tried formating it when i bot up with a windows boot disk but when i type format d: and i go through all the letters of the alpabet except the one i knwo my windows is on it says that that location doesnt exist

If you have an ME disk then forget getting windows to run. 95/98se had bootable disks, ME does not. Windows does not allow you to change the filesystem. You need an emergency recovery disk to get a FAT/FAT32/NTFS partition to install windows. Plus with ME you may need a dos bootdisk to get you to D:\.
If I were you I would tell your parents to buy their own harddrive and leave yours alone.
