Changed screen resolution and now can't see screen to change it back in Ubuntu

I tried adjusting the resolution in Ubuntu so that it would fit better on my screen. The first one I tried worked ok, but when I tried a higher resolution the screen went black. Now I can't see anything on the screen so I can't change the resolution back to where it was. If I hit esc when booting up, is there anything I can do that will change it back to the default?

If you are handy with command-line operations, you can try booting to runlevel 3 and change it there. You should be able to find instructions on how to edit the boot parameters in the grub menu to add "init 3" to boot to runlevel 3. How to change the screen resolution in Ubuntu should be covered in documentation supplied with Ubuntu.
