OK, lets put this to rest. I can't find a straight answer to this anywhere on the web and that really surprises me. Does no one want to change just the trash icon and not all of the icons via themeing?

Running FedoraCore2 with Gnome desktop. Able to reset all the icons I want except for the "trash" icon on the desktop.

To save time, realize that you can not right click/properties/select custom icon on the trash icon like you can on most/all of the others on the system.

In icon themes i have found there are custom icons for empty and full trash icons, but they can only be applied if the entire theme is applied.

In windows you can modify the recycle bin icons inside of display properties. Is there no comprable way to do it under linux?

Somebody man up and tell me it can't be done if that is the case please

I just tried properties for my trash in Slack/KDE and It dos`nt look as if I can change mine either but theres probably a way.

in KDE, all one needs to do is go to
~/<.user>/desktop/

this is where the trash actually is..........
right click, choose properties, and you should be able
to change the ICON from there.

Sorry guys, should have mentioned I was running Gnome 2.6 under fedora core 2.

Found the ~/<user>/.trash directory and was able to modify the icon, but that does not effect the icon on the desktop.

Any other ideas?
