Question Change/Setting Host Video Mode

I am running Redhat ES and have MS Windows XP running under VMWare as a
guest. I want to change the screen resolution of XP to some other value than the default. When I do that, I receive a VMWare message that says:

Unable to find an appropriate host video mode. Adding the guest mode to the 'display' subsection of the 'screen' section of your /etc/X11/XF86Config and restarting X is likely to help.

Can anyone help me with exactly what this means and how I do what it
suggests?

Mark

Your machine is having trouble finding an appropriate mode (size and resolution) for your monitor. You can restart X by opening up a console and typing init 3 as root. Then restart x with startx or init 5. I'm quite sure this will work, at least on Mandrake Linux.

Also edit the aforementioned file /etc/X11/XF86Config to pick a less intensive (less res, size) video mode if things don't work out.
