Change existing filesystem to LVM

Hi,

I have been using an old debian machine as a music library. Now I am running out off disk space and would like to add another disk.

However it turns out that the current installation (1 disk) wasn't created using Logical Volume Manager, and I would definitely prefer to add space to the existing structure rather than having a bland mount point in the middle of the well organized music library.

Is it possible to change an existing installation to LVM ?

Regards Alex

I think not. You need to create a new filesystem on the new disk using LVM, move all of your files onto that drive and finally you can drop the old partition and join this old disk to the LVM.

Create a LVM on the new disk, copy your music over, then add the old partition to the LVM.
