change default mp3 application...

Hi,

I'm wondering how to change the default mp3 application in Linux.

I'm using the PS2 Linux distro which is based on RedHat 6.1

I'd like to change the default mp3 application to xmms

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Ben

i'm not 100% sure about this but it might exist

if ur using kde try right clicking on an mp3 and choosing open with->other program when a browse sort of dialog appears click the + next to 'multimedia' and if the program u want is in the list then make sure the check box that says something like 'always use this' is checked.

I am using KDE - fairly old version.

Unfortunately XMMS is not listed in the Multimedia menu.
And I can't see how you get it added there either.

In the open with box there wasn't an option to always open with that program either.
If I browse to XMMS and click ok, next time I have to do it all over again.
Or open it through XMMS which is a pain as it's more mouse clicks.

Any ideas?

Is there a folder where you need to add all the shortcuts? Like on a windows machine.
KDE Link files?

I think I installed XMMS from an RPM so it's not as if I compiled from source or anything.

Thanks

Ben
